Lastminute’s summer campaign for this year is called “Shoot your summer” and I helped Karmarama with the IA, interaction design, and development guidelines.
My job was to work with the Digital Art Director and the Senior Producer to take a creative concept and turn it into a functional spec that could be handed to a 3rd party development team.
The concept was that users can upload pictures of people enjoying an activity and giving two thumbs up (as in the current “Good stuff” campaign). Uploaders should fill out a short form which captures gender and their home city or town. The pictures could then be rated by the public, including friends notified through the app.
The information on gender, home city and popularity could then be used to create different views on the data, allowing us to inject some good old schoolyard competitiveness — the two main views are, “who’s doing more good stuff, girls or boys?” and “which city’s doing the most cool stuff?”.
I created the information architecture, defined the user journeys and worked with the Art Director on wireframes / lo-fi screens which have since been turned into Flash creative. I also helped brief the 3rd party development team and advised on coding standards, accessibility and .NET platform considerations.
The Shoot your summer site will be launched at the end of June.
